Ist die Maus mal wieder aus, schmeißt man sie zum Fenster raus! Wer so verfuhr, war bisher ein Umweltferkel. Doch nun bringt Fujitsu eine biologisch abbaubare Maus, die aus einem neuartigen Lignin-Derivat und Zelluloseacetat besteht. Lignin ist der „Klebstoff“, der Holz zusammenhält. Ob nun wirklich überhaupt keine Metallteile in der Maus stecken, ist nicht bekannt – ist das Mauskabel etwa auch aus Plastik? Oder die Batterien für den Betrieb? Jedenfalls scheint dies ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Das Tier heißt übrigens M440 Eco.

Summary:Fujitsu presents the first bio-degradable computer mouse. M440 Eco consists of plastic material made of lignin (the stuff that „glues“ wood) and of cellulose acetat. Nobody knows if cable or batteries are also bio-degradable, but this is at least a first step.
